Bob is President and Chief Executive Officer for Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, Inc., and has been with the firm since 1996 where he started as an intern following graduation from the School of Engineering at Vanderbilt University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Bob is a licensed Professional Engineer.
Prior to attending college, Bob served in the U.S. Air Force as a Computer Systems Control Specialist with a tour of duty during Desert Storm. From 2006 to 2007, Bob was the City Manager for Franklin, Kentucky, and managed a $15 million budget and over 90 staff members.
He is active in professional and technical organizations and sits on the board for the American Council of Engineering Companies, Nashville Chapter, as well on Vanderbilt University’s Engineering Alumni Council. He is a member of the National and Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Bob is heavily involved in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee community. He sits on the board for the Downtown Partnership and Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, where he currently serves as Secretary of the Executive Committee. Bob is a graduate of Leadership Nashville (Class of 2012, Programs Co-Chair), Leadership Franklin (TN, Class of 2010), and Leadership Franklin (KY, Class of 2006). He serves on the board for the Brentwood Family YMCA, Arts and Business Council, and Saint Thomas Fund.
In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking and spending time with his wife Michelle and young daughter.
